J. Randy Taraborrelli
J. Randy Taraborrelli is a respected biographer who has written sixteen New York Times’ bestsellers, including Call Her Miss Ross; Elizabeth Taylor; Once Upon a Time - Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier; The Hiltons - The Story of an American Dynasty; Michael Jackson – The Magic, The Madness, The Whole Story; Sinatra - Behind the Legend and The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe. Some of those books have also been adapted for television, such as Marilyn Monroe, which became a highly-rated miniseries for Lifetime, starring Susan Sarandon and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Taraborrelli is also known for his work as a Kennedy family historian having written four popular books about that powerful American family, including the New York Times’ best sellers: Jackie, Ethel, Joan - Women of Camelot, (2000); The Kennedys - After Camelot, (2010); Jackie, Janet & Lee, (2018), and The Kennedy Heirs (2019). Taraborrelli’s latest book is Jackie – Public, Private and Secret (2023). His Kennedy books have also been adapted as critically-hailed television miniseries: Jackie, Ethel, Joan for NBC in 2002; After Camelot (starring Katie Holmes and Matthew Perry) for Reelz in 2016.
Among the author’s other successes: Madonna– an Intimate Biography, which was a massive bestseller in 40 countries and translated into more than 30 languages. It remained on the London Times’ bestseller list for six months and was also nominated for the prestigious W.H. Smith Award in England. The book was also a New York Times bestseller.
Not only is J. Randy Taraborrelli a long-time journalist, he’s a recognizable entertainment personality and in-demand guest on many television programs, including Today, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, Entertainment Tonight, as well as on programs on the CNN and MSNBC and FOX– networks. Additionally, he was a news analyst for CBS News; his two years of coverage of the Michael Jackson molestation trial in Santa Maria for that network widely praised. (He was the only CBS News TV reporter in the court room for the verdict). After the trial, Taraborrelli co-anchored coverage of Jackson’s funeral with Katie Couric for CBS.
Taraborrelli also writes teleplays based on his books and recently completed two pilots for two major studios.
He is signed to Macmillan/St. Martin’s Press as an author.
